Tuition and Fees

So, what is the tuition or cost for the Apprenticeship Program?

Zero!

Unlike a college, an apprenticeship program pays you to learn! That is right, you “Earn While You
Learn”. Once you are accepted into the program, you are sent to work for a NECA Signatory
Electrical Contractor. Depending on the area you are working in, you are paid based on the
Apprentice Wage Scale in that area. ln addition to making top wages, the contractor you are
employed by pays 100% of your medical, dental, and vision for you and your covered
dependents, they contribute up to 20% of your gross wages into your retirement fund and they
contribute 3% of your gross wages into your pension plan. Only your taxes and/or assessments
are deducted from your paycheck!

After you have completed the apprenticeship and become a Journeyman Lineman, there are no
student loans to pay back or hidden fees unlike most college graduates. During your
apprenticeship you will have to pay for any work-related travel expenses (most jobs offer per
diem to help with these expenses) and you are responsible for purchasing your textbooks each
year while in the program. That’s it! It sounds too good to be true, but it is! Just ask any
current or former SELCAT Apprentice!
